HOW DO I GET AN INSTRUMENT?
Area music stores, such as Swicegood Music Company in Beaumont, offer a wide variety of instruments for purchase and/or rental plans for your beginner student. Please consult a band director when making your selection and/or before purchasing any instrument.
Larger instruments such as the baritone, french horn, and tuba are provided by the school district. Students are required to purchase their own mouthpiece.
HOW MUCH DOES BAND COST?
There is not a fee for being in middle school band, but there are costs associated with the program.
INSTRUMENTS: We strongly recommend that beginner students who are not sure of their commitment to something new, consider an instrument rental program. Also, the district has school owned instruments that are available to students with great financial need.
NO STUDENT WILL BE TURNED AWAY FROM BAND DUE TO A FINANCIAL SITUATION.
SHIRTS: Band shirts are required. The cost is between $10 to $25.
FIELD TRIPS: Most of the band's trips are optional and the cost is covered by the district. These trips include the SETX Symphony and UIL Contest and Performances. The end of the year Water Park trip is optional and students may fund raise the money to cover the cost.
